The Camden Garden Club has brought home numerous prizes awarded at the annual convention of the Garden Club Federation of Maine, in the large club category. This year Camden won second place in the U.S. from National Garden Clubs, Inc. for its Press Book, and first place in Maine. The Press Book highlights the work and accomplishments of the club over a calendar year as covered in the press, and is considered a measure of the vitality of the club.
Then more state of Maine awards. Camden got the Thomas G. Atwell Award for Best Publicity dealing with Garden Club Federation of Maine objectives. That brought in a trophy. Then there was a plaque for the Norine S. Veal New Members Award – for twelve new members. And in the Yearbook category, the directory of members and events, Camden took second place. Finally, the club was awarded the Maine Club of Distinction Award recognizing all areas of garden club activities.
The club thanks Judy McGuirk, Camden’s Awards Chair, for her diligence. In turn, Judy credits the members whose energy and creativity further the Camden Garden Club’s mission every year and give her the material that brings so much recognition.
