Christmas Candlelight Historic House opens Camden Garden Club’s Centennial Year

2015 will be the Camden Garden Club’s 100th birthday. To celebrate they have planned a special gift to the town and will fund it by inviting the public to step back into an era of spacious rooms and gracious holidays in one of Camden’s iconic shingle-style homes. 124 Chestnut Street, Christmas-by-the-Sea weekend, December 5, 6, and 7.

Tickets are $10 at the door or in advance at Once a Tree and Owl and Turtle Bookstore in Camden. Signs will guide you there: Friday noon to 8, Saturday 10-8, and Sunday 1-3. Mid-coast interior designers and florists will bedeck the sweeping staircase in the front hall and the first floor rooms, and the large dining room will be decorated by the Garden Club. Musicians will play harp and piano and on Saturday Mrs. Claus will read stories to the children. The designers and florists will tag some items for sale and you can enjoy coffee and cookies under the portico as you leave.

The Camden Garden Club is a member of the Garden Club Federation of Maine and National Garden Clubs, Inc. and for a hundred years has had as its mission bringing horticulture education to the community, enhancing public spaces, and protecting and conserving natural resources.
