In recognition of 100 years of dedication to civic improvement, the Camden Garden Club is to receive a Legislative Sentiment from the Maine State Legislature. District 94 Representative Joan Welsh has informed club President Elizabeth Moran that the sentiment will be read and acknowledged in the House Chamber on March 4, 2015. Since 1915, when the club was organized, achievements include planting more than 1,000 trees, awarding over 100 scholarships, hosting 500 or more programs and adorning the iconic Camden lamp posts with a combined total of at least 8,600 flower baskets and wreaths, and the good works continue.
The centennial year theme “All those flowers: 100 Years of the Camden Garden Club” will be celebrated with a number of events including a birthday party at the Camden Public Library on March 4 and the 68th Annual House and Garden Tour on July 16, 2015. Information is available on the club website www.camdengardenclub.com. Camden Garden Club is a member of the Garden Club Federation of Maine and National Garden Clubs, Inc.
