NEW OFFICERS AND COMMITTEE CHAIRS FOR CAMDEN GARDEN CLUB

On May 28, 2015 the Camden Garden Club, celebrating its centennial year, held its annual business meeting at the First Congregational Church on Elm Street. President Elizabeth Moran was pleased to report that the Plants for Scholars sale on May 16 and 17 was the most successful so far, raising $2,433.00 for the club’s scholarship fund. Judy McGuirk’s photographs of the garden club’s participation in the Memorial Day Parade were displayed, and organizer Ann Vanosdol expressed her appreciation to all the members who took part. Tour Day Chair Ronnie Beason outlined details of the 68th annual House and Garden Tour which will take place on July 16th and Certificates of Appreciation from the Medomak District of the Garden Federation of Maine were awarded to members Judy McGuirk and Stephanie Mathews for their commitment to the objectives of the Camden Garden Club.

President Moran expressed her gratitude to the outgoing club officers and committee chairs for their contributions over the past year, following which the nominating committee presented its roster of candidates for the new term. A vote was taken, and the following were unanimously elected: President, Elizabeth Moran; Vice President, Ann Vanosdol; Recording Secretary, Janan Vaughn; Corresponding Secretary, Nan Lasbury; Treasurer, Lucy Ebbert; Assistant Treasurer, Mary Ireland. Committee Chairs elected were: Awards, Kris Mikkelsen; Birds and Conservation, Sandy Terry; Civic, Kath Holland; Communications and Publicity, Stephanie Mathews; Horticulture, Anne Perkins; Hospitality, Lisa Zahn and Molly Foster; Membership, Judith Tarbox; Programs, Vivian Edfors; Scholarship, Heather Moran; Tour Day, Ronnie Beason and Stephanie Mathews; Trees, Priscilla Granston; Village Green, Lynn Snider; Wreaths, Karen Cease; Yearbook, Patty Courtney, Pat Skaling and Paige Pendleton.

The next meeting of the Camden Garden Club will be the Annual Membership Luncheon on Thursday, June 11 at the Whitehall. Camden Garden Club is a member of the Garden Club Federation of Maine and National Garden Clubs, Inc.
