Tuesday Horticulture Talk on ‘Botanical Illustration’

The Camden Garden Club Winter Horticulture series continues at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, February 9, in the Picker Room of the Camden Public Library. The featured speaker will be award winning artist Linda Heppes Funk and her topic will be ‘Botanical Illustration.’

Ms. Funk has over forty years of experience in design and illustration. She works from live plant specimens only, specializing in pencil, dry brush, watercolor, gouache, and metal point drawing. During her career, she has taught at various locales including The New York Botanical Garden, College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, and the Farnsworth Art Museum, as well as the Creative Arts Center, South Shore Art Center and Wellesley College in Massachusetts.                                                            She currently tutors private students at her studio in                                                                      Maine.

002 Skunk CabbageLinda Heppes Funk’s work has been exhibited throughout the United States and she is the recipient of many prestigious awards including the Bouchier Award for Excellence in Botanical Art in 2001. She also designs furnishings and ceramic dinnerware.

The remaining presentations of the Winter Horticulture Series at the Camden Public
Library are scheduled for February 16 and 23. They are free and open to the public. Camden Garden Club is a member of the Garden Club Federation of Maine and National Garden Clubs, Inc.
