On Thursday, April 28, the Camden Garden Club will welcome guest speaker Jeff Nims, former Camden Town Planner and current President of the Union Historical Society, to their monthly meeting. Since retiring in 2010, Jeff has been dividing his time between his blueberry farm on Clarry Hill in Union and writing.
In his presentation, entitled All About Bluebirds, Nims will focus on how he and his wife Betty have spent the past 20 years protecting their feathered friends from parasites and predators. In the last ten years, Eastern Bluebirds have been expanding their range and have become increasingly common in Maine during the winter. The audience will learn about habitat, types of houses, and diet, as well as the necessary steps involved in saving baby bluebird and swallows.
The meeting will begin at 9:00 a.m. at the First Congregational Church, 55 Elm Street in Camden. Camden Garden Club is a member of the Garden Club Federation of Maine and National Garden Clubs, Inc. Guests are always welcome.
